Product Description

In the 1960s the ex-LMS and ex-LNER Joint Station, Leeds City, was about to become the primary station in Leeds as the Central Station closed and parcels traffic moved to the ex-Midland Railway Wellington Station. Both Wellington and City Stations, together with operations at Neville Hill are seen together with film the re-organised track and platforms being used at Leeds ‘New’ Station. An A4-hauled enthusiast special is boarded for the journey to Skipton via Shipley and Keighley before looking in more detail at trains and stations now only memories. Manningham Shed is shown together with Bradford’s Forster Square Station and Trolley Buses. The Grassington branch and Bolton Abbey and Ilkley Stations in Wharfedale are shown, together with a train ride from Ilkley to Bradford in 1965. With coverage of the Morecambe Residentials, the extensive yards at Skipton, the engine shed and the numerous trains with varied motive power which ran in the early 1960’s, this programme is a reminder of how busy the Midland Route north from Leeds was in the steam era.
