If you liked ex-LNER Pacifics, then Doncaster was the place to see them. At speed and stationary, ex-works and work-stained, on top link passenger trains and lowly freight trains, on shed and in the works, there was always a ‘Pacific’ on view. Whether it was Class A1, A2, A3 orA4: they all looked impressive. In this video we see 19 different Class A4, 11 different Class A3, 23 different Class A1, 6 different Class A2, 5 Britannias, a Stanier Coronation and 11 Deltics! Mixed traffic and freight locos featured include Class B1, J50, K1, K3, N2, O1, O2, V2, WD and early classes of diesels. Doncaster’s ‘plant’ and shed area are visited and together with lineside scenes at Retford, Rossington and Hatfield combine to make a programme that is pure nostalgia.
